Families and Unattached Individuals and Adult Children vs Households
This map is a modification of our map of Families and Unattached Individuals vs Households that also adds in the number of adults aged 25 and over that live with their parents or other relatives= into the numerator. This effectively treats children 25 and over that live with their parents or other relatives as a separate economic unit living in their parent's or relative's household as not part of the economic family. The inclusion of adults living with parents or other relatives in the numerator significantly shifts the order of the metropolitan areas, showing that children above the age of 25 favour to move out of their parents house and live with roommates compared to Toronto and Vancouver. Toronto CMA leads in this metric with a ratio of 1.31, followed by Vancouver at 1.27, Calgary and Edmonton at 1.24, Ottawa at 1.19 and Montreal at 1.18.
