Poor People
This map shows the percentage of people living in households with after tax household income below the poverty cutoffs. See at the bottom for the exact poverty cutoffs. --> Also refer to the corresponding map based on 2005 data and the map of children in poverty and the map of 18 to 64 year olds in poverty. This data is best views at the Census Tract level, although zooming in to the Dissemination Area level can provide important context. For example, poverty levels in the "nose shaped Census Tract" 9330027.02 in Arbutus ridge are dominated by the condo area in at Quilchena Park, although the surrounding single family neighbourhoods also show elevated levels of poverty. The prevalence of high poverty levels in some of the high value housing areas on the West Side of Vancouver is curious. To provide more context we also graph the poverty rate against the median dwelling values in each region, as well as the owner/renter split. Poverty Cutoffs for After Tax Income by Household Size 1 person: 19,460 2 persons: 27,521 3 persons: 33,706 4 persons: 38,920 5 persons: 43,514 6 persons: 47,667 7 persons: 51,486
