Age of Household Maintainer

This map colours each area depending on the age of the primary household maintainer. Households are divided into 3 age groups and the colours are mixed depending on the proportion of households in each group in each area. Areas with more young household maintainers will appear more green, areas with majority of household maintainers aged 35 to 54 appear blue and areas with many household maintainers above 55 will have a large red component. Younger households tend to live close to the city centre, as can be observed in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal or Calgary, other pockets exist around universities and sometimes other areas. Use the search bar, pan and zoom around to see what the age makeup of households is in your area. When zooming into the Dissemination Area level the map becomes prone to distortions due to statistical rounding, in particular rounding to zero when the number of one of the three groups becomes small. Data from the Dissemination Area level should be treated with caution.
