Income Brackets

This map shows the proportion of households with income below $40k, $40k to $90k and above $90k in each region. We grey out areas where we detect data quality issues. Pan, zoom and use the search bar to explore what regions in Canada interest you. The metropolitan areas like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver all exhibit interesting geographic patterns of income segregation, but also areas of well-mixed incomes. Alternatively we can look at individual income earners to get a similar map. Also refer to the map of income composition to see how much income was derived from full time employment, part time employment or other sources. The after tax Gini coefficient digs down deeper into income inequality. Especially segregated areas can be picked out by plotting the percentages of high and low income households in each area.
