Ethnic Diversity (including Indigenous)

This map shows the probability that two random people belong to different ethnic groups. This is a modified version of the ethnic diversity map that enriches the standard StatCan ethnic group breakdown by separating out people of indigenous ancestry as a separate group. This adds to the overall ethnic diversity and A diversity index of 0 means that all people in the area belong to the same ethnic group. The highest possible index of 0.93 corresponds to a perfect mix of ethnic groups, with equal the proportion of each ethnic group in the region. We greyed out areas where we detected large amounts of statistical or privacy-preserving rounding. As always, our maps are Canada-wide. Use the search bar, zoom and pan around to explore different regions of Canada.
