Work from home
This map shows the share of the working population that works from home. Compare this to the corresponding map based on 2016 data. The differences from 2016 are large, we had to use a different colour scale to adapt to this. Among the provinces in 2016 Saskatchewan had the highest share of workers working from home at 10.9%. In 2021 only Nunavut and Northwest Territories came in below that rate at 7.3% and 9.3%, respectively. Ontario took the lead for work from home rates with 29.7% of Ontario workers working from home in 2021. BC had the next-highest rate at 22.6%. Among the larger metro areas Ottawa-Gatienau had the highest overall rate at 39.7%, driven by the City of Ottawa's rate of 43.7%. Toronto had the next highest rate at 35.4%, followed by Calgary at 28.1%, Vancouver at 26.5%, Montréal at 25.8%, and Edmonton at 20.7%.
