Bike to Work

This map shows the percentage of the population that list cycling as their main mode of transportation to work. Areas where we detect data quality issues are greyed out. Compare this to the walk or bike to work map, the walk, bike, or transit to work map and the transit to work map. Also compare this to the corresponding map based on 2016 data, corresponding map based on 2011 data, the one based on 2006 data, the one based on 2001 data, and the one based on 1996 data. When comparing over time it is important to note that the universe of people considered for commuting changed from considering anyone employed at any point since January of the previous year in censuses prior to 2021 to only considering those employed during census week (Sunday, May 2, to Saturday, May 8, 2021).
