Mortgage free owner households

Simple map showing the percentage of owner-occupied households that don't have a mortgage. Also refer to the map of mortgage-free equity that estimates the total assets of all mortgage-free owner households. Metro Vancouver leads the larger census metropolitan areas with 41% of mortgage free owner households, Metro Toronto, [Metro Montreal] and Ottawa - Gatineau and Calgary come in at 38%. At the aggregate level, there seems to be a slight positive correlation between mortgage free owner households and median dwelling values of owner-occupied homes.
