Duplexes

This map shows the proportion of dwelling units that are in duplexes. A duplex is a structure with exactly two dwelling units. This could be stratified or non-stratified, as for example a single family home with a secondary suite. In the City of Vancouver there were about 2000 stratified duplex properties, so around 4000 individual stratified duplex units in 2011. Including these, the census counts 45,840 duplex units in the city, over 90% of which are single family homes with secondary suites. Additionally there were also around 7,000 properties in the City of Vancouver that had more than one secondary suite.
