Chinese as Mother Tongue
This map shows the percentage of the population that has a Chinese dialect as mother tongue. Compare this to the similar map based on 2011 data. The proportion of the population with Chinese as mother tongue dropped in the City of Vancouver from 22.6% to 21.5% between 2011 and 2016, but increased overall in Metro Vancouver from 14.8% to 15.8%. Richmond has the highest proportion in Canada at 44.8%, up from 41% in 2011. The municipality with the next highest proportion is Markham in Metro Toronto at 37%.
