Unemployment Rate

This map shows the unemployment in 2011 rate for each region. Canada-wide the unemployment rate stood at 7.8%, with Nunavut and Newfoundland and Labrador leading the way at 17.9% and 14.6%, respectively. The lowest unemployment rates were found in Alberta and Saskatchewan at 5.8% and 5.9%. Unemployment rates are generally higher in rural areas.
